Maldives presents Sri Lankan Airlines Pro 2008

Once again Maldives is hosting the surfing event ‘Maldives presents Sri Lankan Airlines Pro 2008’. This 6 Star Prime Rated Sri Lankan Airlines Pro is a key event of Association of Surfing Professional (ASP). This is the largest international sporting event held in the Maldives with prize money of USD135, 000.

For the eighth time ASP has chosen Maldives as this is one of the best destinations that offers quality waves. The event is to be held at the Pasta Point waves of Chaaya Island, Dhonveli from 9th to 15th June 2008.

A total of 144 surfers participates in this event including the former 2000 ASP champion Sunny Garcia. In addition, 15 of the elite 2008 ASP top 45 will contest in this event including last years event winner Brazilian Heitor Alves.

Maldives has been continuously sponsoring ASP event because it is a great opportunity to promote and enhance the thrilling side of Maldives to the international market. Also hosting world class surfing events would stand out Maldives as a surfing destination.
